Vector Software
OUR BUSINESS
The science of thermodynamics has shown that over time, the entropy of any business, it’s disorder, would always increase. Things are destined to fall apart. However, by using information, every aspect of any business from finances, to marketing, machinery, processes, people, and the jobs they perform, become opportunities to create structure and order, to build beauty.

Vector is in the business of extracting and applying information that creates structure and order, so that you may produce beautiful results. Unlike complexities that slow down business competitiveness, or software that expects to be fed with data all day long, we simplify processes and supply you useful information.

We use Descriptive Analytics along with mathematics and computer science to mine historical data and look for reasons behind past errors or successes. We create Predictive Analytics to predict what is likely to happen in the future. We develop Prescriptive Analytics to suggest actions you could benefit from and risks to mitigate.

Mining historical data produces information such as manufacturing yield, cycle time, sales, and financial reports. Root cause analysis gives you the reasons for specific performances.

Predictive Analytics uses statistical analysis and probabilities to analyze specific performances such as machine operation and external inputs like rotation speed and fluid viscosity, to predict a failure. It performs calculations to evaluate the risk of failure and the opportunity of success.

Prescriptive Analytics anticipates what will happen, when it would happen, and why. It then provides options to mitigate risks and take advantage of opportunities.

We utilize a combination of business process simplification, human skills development, and Rule Engine technologies to inject standard rules into manufacturing and logistics operations. The resulting business performance is captured and analyzed to describe its efficiency, to predict possible failures, and how to avoid them.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Creating Change that Matters
We help companies across the public and private sector create change that matters, by identifying and setting direction toward important goals. We also help these companies to turn their goals into reality. This means embedding analytics, machine learning, robotics, and auditors into core processes to create results.

Our People
Our people include data scientists, manufacturing managers, process and robotics engineers, and research scientist. They join Vector to apply their talents to solve complex problems. They specialize in minimalist approaches whereby a small change delivers substantial benefits and simple solutions deliver reliable results.
Powered by Knowledge
Our software products and expertise is founded on a rigorous understanding of our client's institutional context. That is why we heavily invest in knowledge development, templates, and leading edge technologies. We have created an Organizational Learning division with the sole purpose of conducting research and development of simple, yet sophisticated logistics processes, machine learning, and big data.
Results speak for themselves:
-
We helped design and implement the Federal Express sort hub and global tracking systems for overnight delivery.
-
We developed the first rule engine for capturing semiconductor specifications and automating their download to factory floor machinery.
-
When most fabs were performing statistical analysis by hand, we developed the first real-time statistical process control system for Motorola. It stopped lots from moving to the next operation when a process was not in control. It enabled Motorola win the Malcolm Baldrige award for quality.
-
Where most semiconductor and electronics factories wrestle with disjointed databases to identify the root cause to one of many issues they face daily, we create big data analytics systems that automatically correlates and identifies the causes of quality issues. It's called deep learning.
-
We implemented an integrated production system for specification-driven manufacture of the Space Shuttle Solid Rocket Booster (SRB).
-
We designed the algorithm for automated communication failover among USAF Global Weather satellites.
Continuous Innovation
Our clients' needs are always changing, so we design and develop new methods and solutions to meet their needs. We serve clients at every level of their organization, from top management to a hands-on coach for front line employees. We develop solutions with the help of a cross functional team of experts, then help train the workforce, and drive operational improvements.

"Vector is the Smart Force at Solectron"
"Before choosing Vector, we evaluated over 20 solutions from other companies. We chose our most complex operation, processing one million units per day. Vector captured production data automatically, pinpointing defects and non-compliance conditions. This level of traceability, from specifications to unit, to box, to shipment, allows our customers to find any segment of our quality supply very quickly. Our implementation took less than a month, including hardware setup and training. A technical business user can administer the Vector system."
